iOS App: BeatMatrix
← BackOverview
MiTempo is an iOS application designed as an interactive accompaniment and study environment for Konoko rhythm practice. It provides a responsive rhythmic framework in which users can explore timing, phrasing, and articulation through adaptive tempo control, looping, and layered rhythmic structures.
The app is intended for musicians, composers, and learners seeking to develop a deeper understanding of rhythmic interaction and improvisation within a structured yet flexible digital environment.
MiTempo enables users to:
- Generate and manipulate layered rhythmic cycles in real time.
- Practice Konoko sequences with adaptive tempo and subdivision control.
- Visualize rhythmic relationships through dynamic pattern displays and playback modes.
Conceptually, the project draws on the rhythmic pedagogy of Rafael Reina, particularly his work on translating South Indian rhythmic concepts into contemporary compositional and improvisational frameworks. His writings on rhythmic modulation and structural design inform MiTempo’s educational and analytical orientation.
Planned updates include expanded rhythmic modules, guided practice materials, and integration with MIDI-based environments for live performance and composition. Documentation, examples, and reference media will be added progressively.
