Gear and Setup

A quick overview of my gear. This page used to be super complicated detailing a long exploration of trying to use guitar modellers and all that - I found it was just too messy to make work. Thankfully, life is simpler these days.

Solo and Duo Gigs

For solo and duo gigs, I use a Maton EA808 with .12–.53 gauge strings and Dunlop Gator 2.0 picks. The guitar runs through an AER Alpha Acoustic amp. Effects in this setup include a Dark Drone Synth, Dreamgazer pedals by MaceoLabs, a Boss DD-8 delay pedal, and a Loop Station for layering and modulation.

Other Gigs

For larger gigs and ensemble work, I use a semi-hollow Artist Guitar similar to a 335, strung with light flatwound strings (.9–.42). The guitar has a GK-5 MIDI pickup installed, allowing me to run two signals simultaneously. One signal feeds into a Fender FRFR10 speaker for synth sounds, while the other goes into a Rivera Jazz Suprema 55 amp for the guitar tone. I play primarily through the neck pickup and use a Keeley Compressor Pro pedal in the guitar signal chain to manage dynamics and bass response. The Yamaha Magic Stomp pedal and GT Core are part of this setup, providing additional effects and tone shaping.
